DO WE STILL CELEBRATE VALENTINE’S DAY?

In times of suppression, calamities, crime, corruption and abduction, do we still celebrate Valentine’s Day? Is it still like other holidays where people mark the date and set a fantastic event for their loved ones? Well at least to satisfy this hunger for an answer, I have asked selected newly weds as to what their ideal Valentine day is and what their Valentine day really was. Here are their answers:

What is your idea of a romantic Valentine's Day?

My idea would be a surprise dinner at home where all my favorite food is served! Afterwards, exchanging of gifts…

In reality, what is your Valentine’s Day really like?

In reality, since my husband is Japanese, Valentine’s Day (February 14) is just for men, while for women, White Day (March 14) is celebrated. Last Valentine’s Day, we didn’t have the time to celebrate it because we just had our honeymoon. But usually, we just watch a movie and have dinner. - RIA AOYAGI - SV Reservations

What is your idea of a romantic Valentine's Day?

It doesn’t have to be in any particular place as long as we’re together, silently holding each others hands.

In reality, what is your Valentine’s Day really like?

What is your idea of a romantic Valentine's Day?

My personal idea of a romantic Valentine’s Day, is that giving a surprise candle light dinner on a private place accompanied by music and also a surprise gift, simple yet memorable.

In reality, what is your Valentine’s Day really like?

In reality, I just prepared food in their house and we only had a simple dinner with her friends. However, a night before , I already prepared my gifts for her (bouquet of flowers and a heart shaped chocolate cake). Then, I brought them in her office early morning and placed in on her table before she came in. We didn’t had that romantic idea but we just did a simple candle light dinner in their house a weekend after Valentine’s Day, a post celebration because of our tight schedule. - GREG D. Indeed, Valentine’s Day is still celebrated! But I think no matter what the ideal celebration is and however celebrated, the important reality is, love is alive. At the end of the day, it is still what keeps us moving. Cheers to love!
