RESOLUTIONS, ANYONE?
Diana Grace M. Uy
A few weeks into 2010, and does anyone care to guess how many New Year’s resolution are still intact? And how is this year any different from the last one?
Yes, most of us begin 2010 living in the same place, working the same job, facing the same joys and burdens as in 2009. But the new year is more than just a measure of time. It is an opportunity to briefly reflect on all that's past, to briefly look ahead at all that's to come, and then to return to the most important task that is the present moment.
In a world where the society is confined to schedules, that small bit of contemplating is important. It allows us to learn from our mistakes, to right our course, even to renew old routines. That is why we make New Year's resolutions, and also why we break them.
So have you made yours?
