HAJJ Movements

Early preparation, proper coordination, and passion… some vital traits in making a major movement successful. Hajj Movement 2009 preparation started as early as March as an attempt to obtain Office on Muslim Affairs’ (OMA) requirement of 6,000 seats for the pilgrims. After months of constant arrangement with Jeddah Head Office and Mr. Abdullah Alazhari – Country Manager, confirmation of 5,790 seats was achieved. Guided by Ms. Annie Valdes and supervised by Ms. Corit Ramirez; Ana David, Ayn Teng, Lourdes Cardente, Frechie Otivar, Asnawie Marohombsar and Lorenzo Joson completed the Hajj Team for 2009.
With the applicable adult fare of USD1500.00 plus KSA Departure Tax of USD14.00, direct flights from Manila to Medinah were arranged by Jeddah Head Office in order to give convenience to the pilgrims. Seats were then decreased to 3,467 after typhoon Ondoy struck the Philippines on September. Number of boarded passengers summed to 3,493 including Embassy bookings, Royal Family sponsored passengers and OMA passengers. Although seats were reduced to almost 50 percent, Hajj Movement 2009 can still be considered successful, and the yearly commitment of Saudia in becoming a conduit of Muslim pilgrims to Allah was once again achieved.
