CARGO ON THE REBOUND

In the first eight months of 2009, the air export industry took a beating and had a steep drop in exports as the ongoing economic crunch pulled down global demand for Philippine-made electronic goods.

However, a major turn-around was experienced during the last quarter of 2009 as demand for locally manufactured electronic goods surprisingly increased. Ending the month of September, local cargo boarding for SV reached more than 100tons with an increase of 250% from the previous month and 222% higher compared to the same month last year and ending the year with a positive growth.
